The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2027 auction is set to take place in Kochi on Wednesday, October 28, with 150 players, including 122 Indians and 28 overseas cricketers, going under the hammer for 27 available slots across the five franchises.
The UP Warriorz will have the biggest budget and the most slots to fill. With ₹3.75 crore remaining and eight places to fill, they face the biggest rebuilding task among the five franchises ahead of the new season. The defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, have ₹1.15 crore left to fill five slots, while Gujarat Giants have ₹1.25 crore for three. Delhi Capitals have ₹1.10 crore available for five places, and Mumbai Indians have the tightest budget, with ₹90 lakh to fill six slots.
| Team | Remaining purse | Available slots |
|---|---|---|
| UP Warriorz | ₹3.75 crore | 8 |
| Gujarat Giants | ₹1.25 crore | 3 |
| Royal Challengers Bengaluru | ₹1.15 crore | 5 |
| Delhi Capitals | ₹1.10 crore | 5 |
| Mumbai Indians | ₹90 lakh | 6 |
UP Warriorz have the most work to do after finishing at the bottom of the table in the 2026 season and releasing 10 players ahead of the auction. Their larger purse gives them greater flexibility to rebuild the squad.
Gujarat Giants, who reached the top four last season before losing to Delhi Capitals in the Eliminator, have three slots to fill. RCB, meanwhile, will look to strengthen their squad as they prepare to defend their title.
Several notable names are expected to attract interest, including Sophie Molineux, Grace Harris, Sophia Dunkley, Chamari Athapaththu, Gunalan Kamalini and Sneh Rana. With limited slots and varying purse sizes, franchises will need to balance squad requirements with the funds available to them.
