The Election Commission has extended the timeline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Nagaland, postponing the publication of final voter lists for the third time.
Under the revised schedule, the final electoral rolls for Maharashtra, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Nagaland will be published on November 30, 2026. Delhi will follow a separate timeline, with its final voter list scheduled for December 22.
The latest extension comes two days after the Supreme Court took a firm stance on deadlines related to the electoral roll revision exercise. The changes were made following requests from the chief electoral officers of the states concerned.
In Maharashtra, the deadline for filing claims and objections has been extended from October 26 to November 13. The process of issuing notices and disposing of claims and objections will continue until November 25. The draft electoral roll for the state was published on August 31.
In Haryana and Andhra Pradesh, claims and objections will be disposed of by November 20, ahead of the final publication of the rolls on November 30.
Delhi has been given a longer extension. The deadline for submitting claims and objections has moved from October 30 to November 25. The disposal of these claims has been extended from November 30 to December 15, with the final electoral roll now scheduled for December 22.
The Election Commission has directed officials to publicise the revised schedule widely so eligible voters have sufficient time to check their details, seek corrections or apply for inclusion in the electoral rolls.
Voters can access the Election Commission’s Voters’ Service Portal for information and assistance regarding the revision process.
