Auqib Nabi added to India’s squad for all five ODIs against New Zealand after Prasidh Krishna injury

The BCCI has added fast bowler Auqib Nabi to India’s squad for the first three ODIs against New Zealand, extending his involvement in the series after Prasidh Krishna was ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Nabi was initially named in India’s squad for the fourth and fifth ODIs but will now be available for all five matches. The decision came a day after the BCCI confirmed that Krishna had failed to recover from his injury and would miss the series.

The 29-year-old recently represented India A in the first unofficial four-day Test against New Zealand A in Lincoln, where he claimed six wickets and emerged as the pick of India’s bowling attack. Making effective use of the assistance offered by the pitch, Nabi impressed with his performance.

Following his inclusion in the senior squad, he has also been withdrawn from the remaining two India A matches against New Zealand A.

Auqib Nabi’s ODI career

Nabi made his ODI debut against the West Indies in Guwahati on September 30. However, his first appearance in the format proved expensive, as he conceded 84 runs in 8.5 overs. He was subsequently left out of the playing XI for the second ODI in Mullanpur, with Mohammed Siraj replacing him.

The right-arm pacer has built his reputation through consistent performances in domestic cricket. He was instrumental in Jammu and Kashmir’s maiden Ranji Trophy title in the 2025-26 season, finishing the last two seasons with 60 wickets.

His extended inclusion gives India another pace-bowling option following Krishna’s absence.
