The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly refuted claims made by the Congress party regarding electoral Form 6. Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra accused opposition leader Rahul Gandhi of deliberately misleading the public and attempting to create anarchy ahead of a planned opposition protest march to the Election Commission.
According to Patra, Gandhi made two distinctly false assertions following a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) hearing in the Supreme Court. First, Patra clarified that the Supreme Court did not declare Form 6 illegal. Instead, the court merely agreed to examine allegations regarding potential changes to the form, which the BJP maintains were never consented to or implemented. Referencing official documentation from the Election Commission, Patra emphasized that the associated declaration has been fully upheld by the court, leaving no room for ambiguity or claims of illegality.
Furthermore, Patra dismissed allegations of internal dissent within the poll panel regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar. Citing an official ECI fact-check, he confirmed that the Bihar SIR order was approved unanimously by all commissioners and subsequently validated by the Supreme Court. The BJP spokesperson characterized the Congress-led INDIA bloc’s planned demonstration against the poll body as a sponsored attempt to weaken democratic institutions. He alleged that after consecutive electoral failures, the opposition is seeking to destabilize constitutional bodies to artificially facilitate Gandhi’s political rise rather than relying on democratic mandates.
