A new group has come up in Delhi to counter the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). It calls itself the Lal Hit Janata Party.
The new group held its first membership gathering on Sunday at Malviya Smriti Bhawan. Its chief, Ayan Bhatnagar, said the aim was to set the group’s strategy and show that a large crowd can gather at short notice. He said the group exists to protect democracy and that it opposes the CJP, the Congress and the protesters.
The group argues that the protests are harming the country. Bhatnagar said the weeks between Dussehra and Diwali are the peak business season. In his view, disruption in a major market like Connaught Place cannot be tolerated. A speaker at the event claimed businesses have already lost Rs 3,000 crore and that the figure could reach Rs 10,000 crore. The source does not verify this claim.
The group also defends the Election Commission. Bhatnagar said demanding the CEC’s resignation weakens trust in constitutional institutions. He pointed out that the 2023 appointment system includes the Leader of the Opposition, and said protesters should study the process before demanding a resignation. He added that a demand cannot be accepted just because 50,000 people gather.
The group accuses the CJP of being backed by the Congress and the All India Students’ Association, which it says want to remove the BJP government. It also says attacks on police and security staff during protests will not be tolerated.
The language at the event was sharp. Speakers called the protesters “insects” and “cockroaches.” Bhatnagar said the end of the CJP would begin on Dussehra. He also said the group has support from people in Canada and the UAE, and urged supporters to move beyond social media and take to the streets.
